You Make the World Brighter

As the oldest sibling, you remember some of the phases that your younger siblings go through.  Sometimes they out grow them, and other times, they continue to have an obsession.  This card was made for my sister who still makes the world brighter.  Happy Birthday!

This blog does utilize affiliate links to some of the products that I love and used during the making of this project.  If you are inclined to purchase any of the linked products I utilized I receive a small compensation at no cost to you.  I appreciate if you do and respect if you do not.  Let’s make the world brighter by breaking down this card.

Pulling out Prism Pals (Kindred Stamps) the Star Girl was stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black alcohol safe ink and colored with Olo Markers (See Color Guide at the end of this blog) on a piece of 80 lb. Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card stock.  She was then fussy cut out and thin foam tape (scrapbook.com) applied to her back.  She was set aside to make the cloud and rainbow that she would be standing on.

To make my background scene, a piece of 80 lb. Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card stock was placed in my stamping platform.  I pulled out the Unicorn Love Stamp Set (Simon Says Stamp) for my rainbow and clouds.  The rainbow was centered onto the panel and picked up onto the stamping platform lid.  Because I wanted my rainbow to be face free, I placed a piece of low tact tape over the centers of the clouds prior to inking.  The stamp was inked and the masks removed.  The image was then stamped onto the card stock panel.  On a piece of Altenew Masking paper, the same rainbow cloud image was stamped and cut out on the line to create a mask.

The cut out mask was then placed over its pair on the card stock panel prior to the rainbow spattering that was to ensue.  Pulling out my spatter box and a rainbow assortment of Tim Holtz Mica Sprays the spattering began!  One by one the spatters appeared in Cocktail Party, Harvest Moon,  Wicked Elixir,  Shining Bauble, and Fortune Teller.

Once dry, the masking paper was removed and the card panel was trimmed down with Layered Rectangle Die (Pink & Main) to allow the panel to have a frame.  The rainbow and clouds were now ready to be colored.  The Rainbow was colored with Olo Markers (R0.5/R0.4; O2.4/ O1.3; Y2.3/ Y2.2; G1.5/ G1.7; B4.7/ B0.6).  The clouds were shaded with BV2.0.  To give the clouds a little sparkle, Wink of Stella was applied and set aside to dry.

To complete the card components, I prepped a scrap piece of the Neenah 80 lb. card stock with an antistatic powder.  The sentiment was then stamped in Versafine embossing ink.  Pulling out the Oceans embossing powder (Kindred Stamps), I heat embossed the sentiment “You Make The World Brighter” from the Prism Pals stamp set.  The sentiment was trimmed down and small dot detail was applied to the top and the bottom of the sentiment strip with a blue glitter pen.

To assemble the card, a Holographic Rainbows card panel (Simon Says Stamp) was glued to a A2 card base.  Thin foam tape (scrapbook.com) was applied to the rainbow cloud spattered rectangle panel and centered on the holographic card front.  The Star Girl was centered  and adhered on the cloud.  Finally, the sentiment strip got a little thin foam tape (scrapbook.com) on the back and popped up below the rainbow scene.  White gel pens (JelyRoll) accents were added for a little light reflection on the image.

My little sister makes the world brighter every where she goes and this birthday card is a perfect way to remind her!
